Armed Forces day, taking place this year on 28th June, is an opportunity to show support for all those current and past serving members of the Armed Forces.
We spoke to Benjamin Parker, a solicitor in our family law team, who is an Army reservist himself.
"Everyone will have their own view, but as someone who has served in the regular Army and now as a reservist, I have experienced the varying sacrifices that serving members, both regular and reserve, and their families must make in order to serve and I continue to have the upmost admiration for those that do.
Thank you to everyone who supports us — employers, families, and communities alike.
For me personally, being an Army Reservist means committing to something bigger than myself while still living a civilian life. I train on evenings and weekends, I have deployed when needed, and I feel being a reservist helps me bring military discipline and adaptability into my civilian role.
I am very lucky to work for a company that has signed up to the Armed Forces Covenant and who is incredibly supportive of my commitment to the Army Reserves.
Armed Forces Day is also an opportunity to encourage all employers to sign up to the Armed Forces Covenant in the hope that other employers will also decide to go the extra lengths to support their employees who are army reservists."
Hegarty continues to show its support to those in the Armed Forces by offering a 10% discount to regular and reserve serving members in the Armed Forces.
